New Gig – Sarasota Orchestra Blogger!

Yup, I'm a new blogger for the Sarasota Orchestra which means I get to attend rehearsals and concerts...for free! No, as a matter of fact I do not know much of anything about classical music. I will not be deterred. Read please, tell if you like...

Experiencing the Orchestra for the First Time… Again

I like classical music even though I know absolutely nothing about it. In fact, I’m pretty sure my first introduction to classical music was from watching Saturday morning cartoons, remember the Looney Tunes intro? Oh dear, telling my age aren’t I? So what qualifies me to blog for the Sarasota Orchestra? Well, I love music in a way that transcends intellect; music moves me. I don’t just listen to it, I feel it and when I truly feel it, it grabs me, tantalizes me, caresses me, takes me on journeys, rips out my heart and mends it in a way no person (or lots of chocolate) ever could. Also, it doesn’t hurt that being on staff as the Artist Assistant kinda gives me a bird’s eye, inside scoop. There’s a really good chance I will never be able to tell the difference between Beethoven or Mozart, (I should be ashamed huh?), but in taking advantage of opportunities to attend concerts and rehearsals, I will always try my best to give an honest approach to experiencing the Orchestra from the eyes and ears of a complete classical music neophyte.
